SL&T has a long service record
of working with community-based organizations in the local area. CEO
Chris Baker believes that being a responsible corporate citizen means
giving back to the community you serve.
“I really believe in the mission of the 100 Black Men of Washington
and I am honored to receive this award on behalf of SL &T,” said
Chris Baker. “As a minority business owner, it’s important
that we get involved in the lives of young African American males.
Mentoring, which is a cornerstone of the100 Black Men, is one of the key
elements for my success today.”
Marvin Dickerson, president of the
100 Black Men of Washington, DC, said: “Shirlington
has been a great partner for us over the years. This award represents
their commitment to helping our organization achieve its goals
of creating leaders in our community.”
SL &T has been providing coach
and mini-buses and array of other transportation services at little
or no cost to the 100 Black Men of Washington DC, as needed, for nearly
five years.
DHS Rates Shirlington Service as Outstanding
SL &T has been recognized with
an award from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for its
Small Business Achievement in the 2003-2004 fiscal year. The award,
which acknowledges excellent and meritorious service, was presented
in April 2005.
“It’s a great honor to receive such a prestigious award,” said
Chris Baker president and CEO of SL&T. “What makes this award
truly special is that it comes from a valued client. It shows
that the effort that we put into providing superior service was recognized
and appreciated.”
SL&T this year will complete its
second year of a five-year contract with DHS as a supplier of shuttlebus
and executive sedan service for agency employees.
